Albert H. Schotter, 84, of Milltown passed away peacefully on Sunday, 12 February 2017 after battling a long term illness.
He was born 30 June 1932, in Crawford County to the late Henry and Theresa (Vernia) Schotter.
Soon after he graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1951, Albert joined the United States Marine Corps (his contributions significantly aided in North Korea signing the "cease fire" truce in 1953, bringing an end to military action in that region). On 10 August 1953, he married the love of his life, Rella Dean Jones of Milltown. They have been married for over 63 years. After the military, he worked as a welder during construction of the Kennedy Bridge project spanning the Ohio River from Kentucky. During this period he got a bad "flash burn" while on the job, causing him to rethink his profession as a welder. He sought employment with General Electric (GE) in Louisville, KY, they immediately accepted his application. After 26 years, he retired from GE in 1989.
Albert was a family man, motorcyclist, tinkerer, junkman, welder, outdoorsman, farmer, banjo player, beekeeper, a man of many hobbies and passions. He loved going to fish fries, motorcycle swap meets, auctions, weenie roasts, barn parties, and lard renderings.

In 2001 at the age of 69 he rode his 1947 Indian motorcycle to Springfield MA, in celebration of Indian Motorcycle's 100th year anniversary. He continued to ride his Indian motorcycles into his early eighties.

His family and friends hope that heaven has a junkyard with some old motorcycles that need "fix'n up" to keep this man happy and busy until we can be with him again.

Survivors include his wife Rella Dean. His sister Lorene Hendrickson (Guy). His children, Lou Ann (David) Bowman, of Milltown, IN, David (Gloria) Schotter, of Leavenworth, IN, Jeffrey (Rhonda) Schotter of Milltown, IN, Jon (Elaine) Schotter of Milltown, IN, Amy Schotter of Corydon IN. Also 9 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, 16 February 2017 and 9:00 am to 11:00 am Friday, 17 February 2017 at Dillman Green Funeral Home, Marengo IN.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Friday 17 February 2017 at Dillman Green Funeral Home, Marengo IN. Burial will be at the old Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery, 6 miles south of Milltown.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Dustin Bowman, Justin, Travis, Adam, Chad, and Troy. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews Ken, Bill and Scott Saltsgaver.

In lieu of flowers, Albert's wish was donations be made to one of his favorite charities, St. Jude Children's Hospital. Donations may be made at the funeral home or on St. Jude Children's Hospital web site,
