Obituary

Clara Speedy, 92, of Mifflin, Indiana passed away peacefully on Monday October 14, 2019 at Jasper Memorial Skilled Care with her children beside her.

She was born on May 21, 1927 in Mifflin, Indiana to James Roy and Dessie (Denbo) Smith.

Clara attended the Mifflin Grade School for 8 years and graduated from English High School. She was an active participant of Mifflin Community Church. Clara was a member of the Eastern Star Organization. She worked as a typist and secretary at the Dayton Airforce Base in Ohio. Clara traveled to Ohio by passenger train. She married Kenneth W. Speedy on January 15, 1947 and he preceded her in death on August 5, 2016. Clara was active in the Crawford County Homemakers club, and was a 4-H leader for many years. Clara was loyal and committed to Crawford County and the people and businesses in the community. Clara enjoyed quilting, embroidering, crocheting and gardening. She was a dedicated mother, and grandmother and will be missed by all.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Kenneth Speedy, her parents; James and Dessie Smith, her siblings; Everett E. Smith, Gerald Smith, and infant Crystal Smith, and her Great- Granddaughter Tala Elizabeth Midle.

Clara is survived by her children; Shirley (Stephen) Shields of Rockport, Steven (Wanda) Speedy of Mifflin, Doris Holzbog of Huntingburg, her grandchildren; Lora (Gary) Gaesser, Robert L. (Krista) Shields, Sarah (Scott) Midle, Paul Speedy, Karen (Stephen Kinsel) Speedy, Sarah (Josh) Hanson, Chris (Lindsay) Goldman, Andrew ( Mackenzie) Holzbog, Kyle (Shelby) Holzbog, 15 Great- Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday October 19, 2019 at 11:00 A.M at Denbo Funeral Home in English, Indiana. Burial will follow at Bethany Union Cemetery in Eckerty.

A visitation will be held on Friday October 18, 2019 from 4:00 P.M until 8:00 P.M at Denbo Funeral Home and again on Saturday from 9:00 A.M until the time of service.

Memorial contributions can be made to Bethany Union Cemetery, or Mifflin Cemetery.
