Curtis Edward Benham died Wednesday, July 08, 2015 in Leavenworth, IN. Curtis was born on October 4, 1927 in English, Indiana to his parents Arlin and Fannie (Stephenson) Benham. Curtis was the owner of the Crawford County Security Company, Inc. in English, Indiana where he served as an insurance agent for over 60 years. He was awarded numerous honors for his work in the insurance field and is the only person to be awarded the Meridian Insurance "Pacesetter" Award on two occasions. Curtis was the Chief of the English Volunteer Fire Department where he was awarded the Bronze Medal of Service and an IVFA Gold Card Member. Curtis was also a 3rd Degree Master Mason and a member of the Crawford County Lodge #470. Curtis loved farming and baseball. Curtis was a member for 20 years with the I.K. Baseball League.
He survived by his wife, Carol Lea (Wilson) Benham of English, IN; two children, Michael E. Benham of English, IN and Tami Benham Deal of Laramie, WY. Curtis leaves behind two children-in-law, Tina Benham and Larry Deal. Curtis had two grandchildren, Jessica Benham Starr of Paoli, IN and Gabriel Wilson Deal of Laramie, WY.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Irvin Benham.
Funeral services will be held at the Denbo Funeral Home in English, IN. Visitation will be on Friday, July 10, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. EST. Funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2015. Burial will take place in English Community Cemetery, in English, IN following the funeral service. Masonic rights and IVFA services are to take place at Denbo Funeral Home on Friday. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in the name of Curtis E. Benham to the English Volunteer Fire Department to continue the legacy of community service he leaves behind.
