Dixie Parr, 87 of Alton, IN passed away on April 16, 2024, at the home of her son Jerry Parr.

She was born on November 29, 1936, to Colvert Roll and Ada (Gilliland) Roll in Grantsburg, IN.

Dixie was a very loving and loyal matriarch of the Parr family.  She helped raise many of her grandchildren and helped many children to read throughout her years of working as a teacher aid, and always made sure the children in her community had rides to school activities.   Dixie enjoyed working in the garden and canning to feed her family.   She had a dry sense of humor and loved her family and friends dearly.  She was a lifetime member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist where she played the piano and sang.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Jerry Marvin Parr, her children Melinda Lynch and Todd Parr, her grandchildren; Jerica Lynch Spencer, Lucas and Jordan Parr, and her siblings; Richard Roll, Dick Roll, Ruth Eckert Roll, Thomas Roll and Jim Roll.

She is survived by her sons; Marvin DeWayne Parr and Jerry Neil (Kristy) Parr, grandchildren; Matthew Parr, Jeremy Parr, Cody Parr, Katie Parr, Anthony Parr, Candice Sloan, Lindsey Houston, Erica Lynch and her brother Mike Roll.

The funeral service will be Friday, April 19, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Dillman-Green Funeral Home in Marengo, IN.

Visitation will be on Friday, April 19, 2024, from 10:00 am to service time of 2:00 pm at Dillman-Green Funeral Home.

Officiating the funeral service will be Bro. Steve Cox with burial to follow at East Cemetery in Alton, IN.
