Edna Rice, 72, of Leavenworth, Indiana passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 19, 2026, at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

She was born on August 13, 1954, in Oneida, Kentucky to Raliegh and Pauline (Davidson) Hensley. Edna married William Rice on May 11, 1973.

Edna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose life was filled with faith, family, and the simply joys of life.

She had a deep love for horses. Edna and her husband William, spent many wonderful years riding horses together, raising Tennessee Walking Horses and Saddlebreds.

Her faith was an important part of who Edna was. She loved studying her bible and found comfort and strength in her family. She loved being outdoors, taking walks, and watching wildlife around her. She had a particular love for roses and loved to garden. Edna was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking dinner for those she loved. Her cat was a special companion to her and brought her much happiness.

Edna will be remembered by the many wonderful memories she made throughout her life and will be deeply missed by her family and friends and all who loved and knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers, Reese Hensley, and Carlos Hensley.

Edna is survived by her husband of 55 years, William Rice, children, Veronica (Jason) Byerly, Leslie Rice, grandchildren, Seth Fell, Baylee (Steven) Paskaitis, Sage Fell, Eli Fell, her sister, Georgia Hensley, and several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 1:00 P.M EST with Bro. Chad Stroud to officiate at Denbo Funeral Home in English, Indiana. Burial will follow in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.

Friends may visit on Friday September 11, 2026, from 11:00 A.M until the time of service at 1:00 P.M.
