Gene Ritchie, 86, of Riddle, IN, died peacefully in his sleep on December 3, 2014. He was a life-long resident of Crawford County, Indiana. He loved farming and his family. He was a talented and caring man who built what needed to be built, fixed what needed to be fixed and shared his wisdom and compassion when that was the repair needed.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Joan Keeney Ritchie and four of his five children; Carolyn "Suzie", Riddle, IN; Bill (Patty), Georgetown, IN; Ross (Denise), Corydon, IN; Julie (Keith) White, Marengo, IN; six grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Emily Rose.
There will be a Celebration of his life on Saturday, December 13, at Lincoln Hills United Methodist Church, 1598 W. State Road 64, English, IN, 47118. Visitation will begin at 1 pm in the fellowship hall followed by a memorial service at 3 pm in the sanctuary. Gene would want everyone to "come as you are" so join us and be relaxed and comfortable. The service is intended to be open to anyone wishing to share stories and memories of a man who was so good to so many.
Instead of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Riddle Cemetery Fund, c/o First Savings Bank, P.O. Box 428, English, IN 47118.
There will be a private burial at the Riddle Cemetery that is yet to be scheduled. Arrangements are being made by Denbo Funeral Home, English, IN.
