Obituary

Harry “Doug” Speedy, 63, of Taswell, Indiana passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, Indiana surrounded by his family.

He was born on February 2, 1963, in Jasper, Indiana to Harry E. and Janice (Peabody) Speedy. Doug married Lisa Ingle on October 5, 2013.

Doug was a man of Christian faith, a hard worker, and someone who could fix just about anything. He was a talented mechanic who took great pride in his work and spent more than 21 years serving the Crawford County Highway Garage. As the shop foreman, Doug was a respected leader and received the Highway Man of the Year award last year in recognition of his dedication and hard work.

Doug was known throughout the community as a friend to everyone. If something was broken, he could usually find a way to fix it. He was a man you could count on.

Doug enjoyed the simple things in life, fishing, spending time with his family, and of course enjoying a cold Mountain dew – his favorite drink.

Doug will be deeply missed by his family, friends and co-workers. The Crawford County community has lost a good man, a good friend, and a man who was always willing to lend a hand. His memory will live on in the many lives he touched and the countless things he fixed along the way.

He is preceded in death by his father, and brother, Michael Speedy.

Doug is survived by his wife, Lisa Speedy, children, Shelby (Amanda) Henke, Tyler (Baylie) Henke, Jody (Matthew) Rottet, grandchildren, Sullivan Henke, Thea Henke, Thomas Rottet, his mother, Janice Kay Speedy, sister, Carletta Speedy, nieces and nephews, Shane Speedy, Tiffany Gideon, Bobby Faulkenburg, and sister-in-law, Kathy Speedy.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 10:00 A.M EST at Denbo Funeral Home in English, Indiana with Bro. Mathew Rottet to officiate. Burial will follow in Eckerty Cemetery.

Friends may visit on Friday, August 21, 2026, from 3:00 P.M until 7:00 P.M and again on Saturday morning from 9:00 A.M until the time of service at Denbo Funeral Home.
