Hazel Horn, 93, of English, Indiana passed away on Wednesday May 20, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her family.
She was born on September 17, 1932, in Talladega, Alabama to Marvin Lewis and Lilly Lackey.
Hazel Horn married Jesse Charles Horn Sr. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose kindness and gentle spirit touched everyone who knew her. A devoted homemaker, Hazel dedicated her life to raising her nine children and caring deeply for her family. Her home was always filled with love, warmth, and the comfort only she could provide.
In her younger years, Hazel worked at Citizens Hospital in Talladega, Alabama until her retirement, after which she returned to English. She attended Wesleyan Church.
Hazel had a special love for angels and enjoyed collecting them throughout her life. She also found great joy in flowers, gardening, mushroom hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. She had a remarkable gift for gardening and could grow nearly anything, often sharing her knowledge of flowers and plants with those around her.
More than anything, Hazel loved life and cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and extended family. She was known as a sweet lady with a loving heart, and her memory will continue to live on in the many lives she touched.
Hazel is preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Lilly Lackey, her husband, Jesse Charles Horn Sr., her children, Rhonda Joan Wininger, Wayne D. Horn, her son-in-law, James Bradshaw, and her siblings, Melvin Lackey, and Glenda Pate.
She is survived by her children, Roger (Marcy) Horn of English, IN, Harold (Sheila) Horn of English, IN, Micheal (Brenda) Horn of Talladega, Alabama, Alecia (Scott) Bays of Indianapolis, IN, Sheryl Bradshaw of English, IN, Jesse Charles Horn Jr. of English, IN, Marvin (Tina) Horn of Winslow, Indiana, son -in-law, Benny Wininger, grandchildren, Adam, Melissa, Jonathan, Amy, Shelly, Shane, Shasta, Hollie, Courtney, Micheal Jr., Amanda, Candace, Josh, Nicholas, Justin, Jessica, Jolene, many great grandchildren, several great- great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday May 23, 2026, at 1:00 P.M EST at Denbo Funeral Home in English, Indiana with Bro. Roger Dillman to officiate. Friends may visit on Saturday May 23, 2026, from 10:00 A.M until the time of service at 1:00 P.M. Burial will follow in English Cemetery in English, Indiana.
