Janice Rose Smith, age 79, of English, Indiana passed away on Wednesday June 17, 2026, at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital in New Albany surrounded by her family.

She was born on March 5, 1947, in Harrison County, Indiana to Norman and Flossie (Curts) Montgomery. Janice married Bobby Gene Smith on June 1, 1963, and they had 58 loving years together. She said the light of her life has always been and always will be her children and family. Her greatest joy was when she became a Christian.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bobby Smith who passed on May 22, 2021, her sisters, Bonnie McCollum, Paulette (Philip) Kirkham, and her brother, Norman Montgomery.

Janice is survived by her children, Bobby Smith Jr., Rita (Don) Eddleman, Leslie (Chris Hammond) Smith, Michael (Jessica) Smith, 6 grandchildren, 5 great- grandchildren, 2 great- great grandchildren, her sister, Joy Perkins, her brother -in -law, Billy McCollum, and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Monday June 22, 2026, at 6:00 P.M EST at Denbo Funeral Home with Bro. Perry Michaelson to officiate. Friends may visit from 2:00 P.M until the time of service at 6:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
