Jimmie D. Eckerty, 82, of Birdseye, IN passed away at 07:40 A.M on Monday December 29, 2020 in New Albany, IN.

He was born on August 5, 1938 in Birdseye, IN to Ernest and Velma (Gilmore) Eckerty.

Jimmie was a proud United States Army Veteran. He enjoyed transporting and helping other fellow Veterans. Jimmie was a member of V.F.W and the American Legion. He liked IU Sports, and NASCAR. Jimmie was a member of Wickliffe United Methodist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Ernest and Velma Eckerty, step-daughter, Kim Zehr, an infant son Jeffery Eckerty, and his sister, Demona Brubeck.

Jimmie is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Carol Eckerty, his children; Debbie (Mike) Smith, James (Lisa) Eckerty, Robert Eckerty, Rodney (Tina) Eckerty, Tommie (Dawn) Eckerty, Kim (Courtenay) Eckerty, 14 Grandchildren, 7 Great – Grandchildren and many friends.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday January 2, 2021 at 11:00 A.M at Denbo Funeral Home with Bro. Albert Madden to officiate. Burial will follow at Mathers Cemetery in English, IN with military rights.

Visitation will be held on Friday January 1, 2021 from 4:00 P.M until 8:00 P.M at Denbo Funeral Home in English, Indiana.
