John D. Melton, 73, of English, IN passed away on January 29, 2021 at Indian Creek Nursing Home in Corydon, IN.

He was born to Carlos and Martha (Gabbard) Melton on March 2, 1947 in Bond, Kentucky.

John worked as a construction contractor most of his life and a long-time member of the English Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Millie Woolems and his brothers Jessie and Vernon Melton.

John is survived by his wife of 24 years Inez (Aldridge) Melton, children; Teddy Ray Melton of Florida, Josh (Robin) Welch of English, and Jamie Knight of English, grandchildren; Joshua Woolems, Leah Beth Woolems, Kaitlyn Isgrigg, Gabriel Knight, Brianna Welch, great grandchild Autumn Grace Bye, and siblings; Ruby Conforte of Connecticut, Lula Mae King of Ohio, Bonnie Sue Humsted of Ohio, Farris Melton, Leroy Melton, Earl Melton and Darrell Melton, all of English, IN.

A private family funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Denbo Funeral Home, English, IN.

Visitation will be on Saturday, January 30, 2021 from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Denbo Funeral Home, English, IN and from 12:00 noon until service time at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 31, 2021.

Bro Amos Pranger will be officiating the funeral service with burial to follow at Mathers Cemetery, English, IN.
