Ryan Joshua (Josh) Smith, 50 of English, IN passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021.

Josh was born on June 12, 1971, in New Albany, IN. to Leroy and Priscilla Ruth (Sheckells) Smith.

Josh is preceded in death by his mother, Ruth, and his brother Roy Smith, and his niece Jessica Lowery.

He is survived by his daughter Tiffany (Brandon) Eckert, and his son Christopher Ryan (Savanna) Smith. He is also survived by his 2 grandchildren Bella and Bo Eckert. His father, Leroy Smith, Brother, Roger (Polly) Smith, Sisters, Rita (Marvin) Culver, Reena (Hank) Ruff, and Becky (Pete) Wolfe. Josh is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Josh was a compassionate caregiver for those in need as well as being devoted to his family. Josh especially loved to make his grandchildren, nieces and nephews feel loved, who they thought was the coolest grandpa and uncle. Josh loved the outdoors and spending time deer hunting.

Josh spent over 23 years as a fireman in the Leavenworth Fire Department, achieving the rank as Captain. He was also a very skilled carpenter who had an eye for detail and making the finished product a wonder to behold.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 17 at the Dillman-Green Funeral Home in Marengo from 4-8 PM.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 18 at 11:00 at the Beechwood Bible Holiness Church located at 4434 South State Road 66 English, IN. Visitation Saturday will start at 9-11 at the church. The Leavenworth Fire Department will be honoring Josh the day of the service.

Burial will follow in the Bloom-Riddle Cemetery.
