Joyce Helen Elder, 66, of English passed away on Saturday August 17, 2019 at her residence.

She was born on October 24, 1952 in New Albany, Indiana to Marvin and Maudie (Craven) Thompson.

Joyce loved to fish and was an avid reader. She enjoyed making her yard look nice and gardening.

Joyce is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years Terry Elder, her parents; Marvin and Maudie Thompson, her siblings; Rondal Odell Thompson, Sr., James Thomas Thompson, Ernest Ray Thompson, Alta Bernice Thompson, Edra May Thompson, and Betty Jean Thompson.

She is survived by her children; Melissa (Tim) Dixon, Robert (Andrea) Elder, her grandchildren; Dakota Holcomb, Kristie (Cory) Horton, Cheyenne (Adrien) Culbertson, Brianna Dixon, Brittany Dixon, Sierra Elder, her great- grandchildren; Bailey Culbertson, Addilyn Culbertson, and one more great – grandchild, Russell Horton due in September, her siblings; Edgar "Sonny" Thompson, Barbara Ann Chandler, Beverly June Thompson, Floyd Thompson, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Friday August 23, 2019 at 11:00 am at Denbo Funeral Home in English, with Bro. John Bye to officiate. Burial will follow in Taswell Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Thursday August 22, 2019 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Denbo Funeral Home and again on Friday from 9:00 until the time of service.
