Karen Lee Ferguson, 78, of Corydon, Indiana passed away on Wednesday August 21, 2024, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, Indiana surrounded by her family.

She was born on April 8, 1946, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Eldred and Helen Ruth (Sherron) Atkins.

Karen attended Cornerstone Church and was a member of the Methodist Church in Leavenworth, Indiana. Karen earned a Master's Degree in Education and began her teaching career. She taught special education in Northern Indiana, and then worked as assistant teacher in Leavenworth, Indiana. Karen also worked at CVS in English, Indiana. She liked to read, watch western movies, Perry Mason, and spend time with her cat Pepper.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Eldred and Helen Ruth Atkins.

Karen is survived by her siblings, David (Ada) Atkins, Dennis (Ruth) Atkins, Douglas (Brenda) Atkins, 9 nieces and nephews, and 9 great- nieces and great- nephews.

Cremation was chosen according to Karen's wishes. The family will receive family and friends at Denbo Funeral Home on Thursday, September 12, 2024 from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM with a Celebration of Life service to begin at 12:30 PM at Denbo Funeral Home in English, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Gideons International Organization.
