Karla Renee Wilkes, 64, of Eckerty, Indiana went to her heavenly home surrounded by her family on Wednesday February 26, 2025, at Good Samaritan Home and Rehabilitative Center in Oakland City, Indiana.

She was born on September 8, 1960, in New Albany, Indiana to Garrel Lee and Janet Marie (Patton) Carr.

Karla married Terry Lynn Wilkes on September 1, 1984, at Fairview General Baptist Church. They shared 40 years of memories together.

Karla spent years as a babysitter to many families and neighborhood children and retired from Touch of Class Catalog in Huntingburg, IN after 24 years of service. She was a member of Fairview and Highfill General Baptist Church.

Karla was a wonderful Christian woman who enjoyed gospel music and singings. Karla enjoyed traveling, loved the beach, cherished family trips to Florida and to Tennessee with her husband. She loved taking pictures to capture memories to be shared. Karla enjoyed organizing Derby Dinner outings and family reunions. She thrived on spending time with her daughter and grandsons and could be found at all her grandson's events. Her favorite color green was as bright and vibrant as she was. With a heart of gold, Karla was such a fun loving, sweet, and caring woman to all. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed.

Karla is preceded in death by her parents, Garrel Lee and Janet Marie Carr, and her brothers, Kevin Carr, and Keith Carr.

She is survived by her husband, Terry Wilkes of Eckerty, Indiana, daughter, Tiffany (Joshua) Neukam of Oakland City, Indiana, 2 Grandsons, Braden Neukam and Collin Neukam. Her stepmother Wanda Carr of Birdseye, sister, Kimberly (Eric) Bean of Taswell, Indiana, sister- in -laws, Jill Carr Ballard (Darren) of Taswell, Indiana and Laurie Carr of Salem, Indiana, stepsister Donna (Jerry) Huff of Birdseye and brother-in-law Tim Wilkes of English, as well as several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

A funeral service will be held on Monday March 3, 2025, at 11:00 A.M EST with Bro. Joe Crow to officiate at Denbo Funeral Home in English, Indiana. Burial will follow in Highfill Chapel Cemetery.

Friends may visit Sunday March 2, 2025, from 2:00 P.M to 6:00 P.M and again on Monday morning from 10:00 A.M until the time of service at 11:00 all at Denbo Funeral Home in English, Indiana.
