Margaret Ann Hughes' Obituary
MARGARET ANN (NOHE) HUGHES, 83 of Greenwood went to be with her blessed Savior Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014.
Margaret was born Nov. 5, 1930 in Bloomington, IN to Mary Ellen (Meier) and Al Nohe. Survivors include her brother Al (Jenna) Nohe, Bargersville, daughters Patricia (Norm) Freese, Debra (Gene) Robbins of Greenwood, Mary (Mack) McKinney, Kirksville, MO, Kenny (Angie) Hughes, Joe (Michele) Hughes of Franklin and Tom(Jane) Hughes, Santa Ana, CA, 14 grandchildren 20 great grandchildren and her devoted little dog Jesse Mae. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Mary Alice Brown, Francis Ingram, Pauline Engle and infant Leona, a brother Leonard Nohe.
Margaret met and married D.J. "Joe" Hughes August 7, 1951 and he preceded her in death in May 7, 2013.
Margaret drove for Gateway and Johnson County Special Service Schools for several years. Along with her husband they successfully built Elegant Pool and Patio which is still owned and operated by son Joe Hughes.
In 1994 they moved back to Crawford County and built their retirement home. Margaret started working for The Visiting Nurse Association doing what she loved to do, caring for people. Margaret was a member of the English Wesleyan Church and the homemakers. She loved to bake and visit with those around the community. Margaret was an avid quilter and an accomplished seamstress, sharing her many projects with her family and friends. Most of all Margaret loved being in the word of God. She was a devout" prayer warrior."
Due to health problems she and Joe returned back to Greenwood. They never lost their love for their friends in Crawford County. A celebration of Margaret's life will be conducted by Rev. Filo Jones on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014 at the English Wesleyan Church 312 S. Main St. English, IN with visitation at 11 A.M. and service at 1 P.M. Burial will be at Mifflin cemetery.
The family request in lieu of flowers a memorial contribution be made to the local humane society or the English Wesleyan church.
