Merrill L. Dillman passed away July 22 at University Hospital. He was born to Ralph E. and Hazel F. (Small) Dillman at Leavenworth, IN.
Merrill is survived by his wife, Gail, his brother Harold Dillman and nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Merrill was preceded in death by brothers Norman E. and Melvin L. Dillman.
Merrill was a member of Marengo Christian Church, Masonic Lodge #475, American Legion Post #184, Indiana Funeral Directors Association, National Funeral Directors Association and a member of The Mu Sigma Lapha Fraternity. He was a US Army veteran of the Korea War were he served in communication sending and receiving the Morris Code. He was a graduate of the old Kentucky School of Mortuary Science as valedictorian of his class of 1962.
Merrill and his wife owned and operated the Dillman-Green Funeral Home for 32 years, serving the families with dignity and respect.
He was a farmer as well, raising Belgian horses and Hereford cattle. He loved his Boston Terriers, his small helpers and companions.
Merrill will be missed by his family, many friends and the wonderful folks he was privileged to serve. He was a quiet, thoughtful, sincere person with that friendly smile and always a funny greeting.
Visitation will be Monday, July 24 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Funeral service will be Tuesday, July 25, at 11:00 am at Dillman-Green Funeral Home in Marengo, IN. Entombment will be at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany, IN.
