Obituary

Robert William (Bob) Belcher passed away peacefully on May 7, 2024, at the age of 97.  Bob's life was one of joyful service to God, his country, family, friends, and neighbors.  The eldest boy of six children, Bob was born October 1, 1926, to the late Vollie William and Sophia Gladys (Felker) Belcher in a log house on the family farm near Mifflin, Indiana. He was drafted into the Army Air Corps in 1945 and served for the remainder of World War II.  As soon as he returned home, he purchased a 1948 John Deere B tractor.

Bob worked for the Soil & Water Conservation Service in English for 28 years then retired, sold his tractor, and moved to Florida in 1981. He could fix nearly anything and genuinely enjoyed helping people, so jobs continued to find him.  He worked in facilities management for an apartment complex, a manufacturing company, and in multiple office buildings, first in Orlando and then part-time in Cape Coral, before finally retiring and moving to Brooksville, FL in 2000.  Once there, he kept busy helping neighbors and started trading golf carts - much to the delight of visiting family, especially his great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his brothers Paul Belcher and Chester Lee Belcher, his sister Ruth Newton, and his beloved wives: Mabel Rose (Newton) Belcher of 45 years, Naomi (Jones) Belcher of 13 years and Anna (Lashbrook) Belcher of 8 years.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters Peggy Maddox (Guy) and Barbara Voglesong (David), his grandchildren Sonia Winfield-Futch (Aaron) and Travis Voglesong (Susan), his great-grandchildren Jack and Margaret Winfield, Brayden, Josslyn, Genevieve and Charlotte Voglesong, his brother Leon Belcher and sister Maxine King, multiple nieces, and nephews, plus stepdaughters and their families.

Funeral service will be on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Denbo Funeral Home in English, IN.

Visitation will be on Saturday beginning at 10:00 am at Denbo Funeral Home.

Officiating the funeral service will be Bro. Philo Jones with burial to follow at Mifflin Cemetery.
