Roy Orville Mitchell, 89, of Eckerty passed away on Saturday September 26, 2020 at Jasper Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born on July 23, 1931 to the late Sherman Edgar and Opal L (Laswell) Mitchell.

Roy was a Korean War Veteran and a United States Army Veteran. He excelled in the Drum and Bugle Corp and was proud of his service. Roy attended Bethany Union Church and was a song leader for over 46 years. He was a Supervisor at Inwood Office furniture, and a farmer. Roy and Shirley were musicians and loved to travel to local churches to perform their music.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Sherman and Opal Mitchell, his daughter Cynthia Rose Ball, and his sister Dorothy Mae Curl.

Roy is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Shirley, his children; Ronald (Nikki) Mitchell, Jeffery Mitchell, Delores (Don) Hensley, Martin (Vicki) Mitchell, Annette (Keith) Knight, 32 Grandchildren, several Great – Grandchildren, his brother Gerald Lee Mitchell, his sister Lucille Powell and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Monday September 28, 2020 at 1:00 P.M at Bethany Union Church with Bro. Tilden Jones to officiate. Friends may visit from 11:00 A.M until the time of service at 1:00 P.M. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
