Sandra K. Slade age 78 passed away Sunday May 19th, 2024 at Emerald Nursing & Rehab in Cozad Nebraska.
Sandy was born Sandra K. Childers on October 22nd 1945, in Crawford County, Indiana to Gilmer and Julia (Sturgeon) Childers. She then lived in English, Indiana, where she was raised by her Grandma and Grandpa Sturgeon. She graduated from English/Sterling High class of '62.
After graduating she moved to Nebraska with Don and Thelma Sturgeon for more opportunities. Sandy met and married Harlan Garringer, to this union they welcomed two sons: James and William.
Sandy resided in Elm Creek, Nebraska for a large portion of her adult life, while working at Baldwins in Kearney, Nebraska until she retired.
Sandy loved the Lord and her family fiercely. She was always doing her best to spread God's word to anyone willing to listen. She enjoyed getting to know people and never met a stranger. Sandy always talked about "back home" in Indiana which would spark stories of days long gone, and would paint such beautiful pictures in your mind.
Sandy is survived by her two sons, James & wife Sheli Garringer of Lexington, Bill & Kristy Garringer of Elm Creek; five grandchildren, Margo, Megan, Caleb, Johnathan, and Chelsey; seven great grandchildren; as well as many extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; sister, Charlene.
Family and friends are invited for the inurnment which will be held in the Sturgeon Family Cemetery in English, Indiana on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 1:00 PM. Bro. Philo Jones to officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are kindly suggested to Emerald Nursing and Rehab in Cozad, Nebraska.
